Real-time in-line interpretation of liquid properties is important for multiphase flow measurements; example, many phase fraction measurement principles have a dependency on characteristics salinity. Therefore, it would be desirable to sensor, such as microwave which can continuously measure the salinity flow. In addition measurement, sensor also water fraction, required flowmeter based single-energy gamma-ray attenuation; however, choosing suitable probe sensing location in challenging, needs located at near-wall liquid-rich region accommodate wide range conditions. Currently, installed lower area horizontal blind-tee inlet spool measurement. Integrating into vertically mounted reduce (carbon) footprint and manufacturing costs improve water-to-liquid ratio due faster local oil-water mixing. The associated challenge that conditions, including high gas-volume-fraction flows, where layer present vertical pipe usually very thin. this study, computational fluid dynamics modeling used evaluate suitability four different locations along cross-section Venturi-based liquid-richness. results show Venturi most compared mid-convergence section, mid-divergence outlet liquid-volume-fractions. findings been validated by experimental measurements loop facility.
